Blog review for hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com

I’m always checking out blogs about fashion, gossip and oak furniture, etc but most of all humour and my all time current favourite blog has to be hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com .
I know loads of people have already seen this but for those of you that haven’t I’ll try and explain. This blog has been making waves on the world wide web for a good while now but in my opinion it is still as fresh and pertinent as ever.
A brilliant mix of funny sketch like drawings and silly yet spot on observations, this blog will make you laugh and smile every time you log on to it. The current illustrations depict “The four levels of Social Entrapment”, i.e. those cringing slightly awkward social moments we all have such as making small talk with someone you don’t really know well enough and having boring conversations about each other’s jobs.
The cartoons really are excellent and seem to capture the feelings of the characters and the illustrator perfectly! Allie, the witty and very talented young woman behind the blog uses Paintbrush to make her drawings. Paintbrush is apparently Mac’s equivalent to MS Paint and in my opinion it’s really impressive that she manages to make a computer programme feel so lively and fresh.
This blog is consistently funny and the pictures that break up the text ensure that it’s never boring. In fact that’s a piece of advice she gives in her familiar Answers and Questions page, i.e. that in order to keep a blog entertaining avoid massive long paragraphs!
Since April 2010 Allie (previously studying physics) has been able to make a living out of her blog and it’s really encouraging to see that sometimes good things can happen to truly creative people.
