5min Video Life Videopedia
Yesterday I really needed to open a coconut (don’t ask, I just had a yearning!) and didn’t know how to. So after a bit of Googling I came across a clip on 5min video Life Videopedia. This short instructive video was clear and instructive and didn’t go too fast. Also it didn’t drag on and go too slowly which can sometimes be the case with instructive videos. I think keeping it to a 5min time limit is really useful. I often use YouTube but it can bring up a lot of videos which are irrelevant and you can end up being rather distracted (once I was looking for a video on cat care and for some reason spent about 15 minutes looking at something about laser hair removal in Birmingham)!
The site is divided in to sections such as Arts, Business, Food, Fitness etc, so you can quickly figure out where you need to get to. The only downside I can see so far is that you have to sit through an advert before you get to watch the video you want to see. However this is often the case nowadays and you certainly have to do the same sometimes with BBC iplayer. It’s their only revenue I guess, but it can be a bit annoying! Other than that though 5min Video Life Videopedia is a useful resource. If you want to learn how to paint, make a balloon pirate, loose wait, improve your fitness regime, organise the best children’s birthday party ever, get business tips or successfully cut open a coconut it’s all there! The coconut in question was cut up without any difficulties and I even managed to get a lovely half glass of coconut milk out of it! It’s really nice to find a resource for people to share all kinds of everyday skills.
